About The Play

This life will bring you happiness, sadness, conflict, and pain. So WHEN LIFE HURTS; what do you do? How do you handle it? Will you let it break you? Will you let it make you stronger? This story will take you into your own mind and make you think. As you observe this, you will relate in one way or another. This comedic drama stage play is centered on the life of three friends; journey through college. As they go through their college experience, they hit a couple bumps and obtain a few bruises. The main characters are Ramon, Toni, and Jay. Ramon experiments with several romantic relationships and contracts a potentially fatal disease just as he becomes content in finding & the one. Raising him as a single mother, Ms. Harris's faith in God gives her the wisdom to be his strength. Toni loses his parents in a bad car accident and is left with no one but his brother, who is an all-state basketball player. Together, they are forced to go through life without the love of their mother and father. Jay is the joker, but he doesn't play when it comes to his brother Damon. Damon has to learn the hard way that thug life is not for him and ends up getting shot. When times get tough for this trio, they all have one thing in common- Mrs. Harris. She is the driving force that carries these three friends through their lives when it hurts.

About The Producer

Richard Isaiah is a recent graduate of the University of Toledo. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, December 2008. While he has goals to pursue a career mentoring youth through sports, his passion is in theatre. Rick is driven by faith and is confident that God has given him a vision to accomplish his dream, which is to be a well established and renowned writer. He is a very talented writer, director, actor/comedian, and singer/songwriter. While balancing the challenges of being a full-time student, working, and serving his church through his musical talents, Richard Isaiah found time to embrace his zeal for writing. After three years of writing and revising, he completed his first major stage play- When Life Hurts. He was instrumental in writing the script and all of the lyrics to seven original songs that will be performed in the production. In addition to the time that he has already dedicated to this play, Rick is also serving as an actor and the executive director. As he strives to expose his vision to the public through this project and future pieces, he hopes to inspire people to escape from the stresses of life and learn to simply enjoy it.

Showtime Information

With a Cast of 14, a live band, and 100% raw talent from Toledo area natives, When Life Hurts is scheduled to show Friday July 30th 7p.m.-9p.m. at the Maumee Theater (601 Conant Street Maumee, Ohio 43537). Tickets are $15 each and $20.00 at the door. See You At The Show!!!
